She is a British actress and dancer, born on August 7, 1966, in Lancashire, England, UK. She went to the University of Manchester, where she received a degree in Arabic and Middle Eastern politics. During the early 1990s, she began her dancing career in video clips. She started acting in minor roles in the late 1990s. She was awarded an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from the University of Huddersfield in 2006. She is known for Dinnerladies (1998-2000), Coronation Street (2001-2013), and Wetty Hainthropp Investigates (1999). She was married to Anshu Srivastava. She shared a British Soap Award nomination for her role in Coronation Street.
