An Iraqi writer and storyteller, born in Kirkuk. Until the age of eight, he knew only the Kurdish language, and he learned Turkmen in the neighborhood in which he grew up. Four master’s theses were written about Al-Qaisi’s work in the universities of Mosul, Tikrit, Diyala, and Sulaymaniyah. His work includes the play Guevara Is Back, Open the Doors! (1974). He died in July 2006, after undergoing surgery in a hospital in Ankara, Turkey.
