American actor, born in The Bronx, New York State, USA, on December 7, 1900. He was married to Grette Ardine. He was 16 years old when he participated in vaudeville, and after 10 years he studied acting. He spent two years with a theater company to perfect his craft, then traveled to Hollywood and signed a long-term contract with Columbia. He appeared in many films in supporting roles, especially fraudsters and swindlers. He made 29 short films with The Three Stooges. Among his works are Legion of Terror (1946), Motor Madness (1937), The Circus Shadow (1937), and Criminals of the Air (1937). He died in The Bronx, New York State, USA, on September 20, 1949, of pneumonia.
