He studied law before working as a secretary to Jacques Feyder in Paris. He is known for The Grand Illusion (1937), Before...Read more the Deluge (1954), and Panique (1946). He was married to Janine Spaak and Claude Marcy. He is the father of Catherine Spaak and Agnès Spaak. He died on March 4, 1975, in Nice, Alpes-Maritimes, France, from complications from an arterial operation.
