A British actor, born in London, England. He played comic villains in thrillers and was also famous for performing Shakespearean characters at the Stratford Memorial Theatre in the 1940s. He moved to New York in 1948 and appeared in several Broadway plays, then moved to Hollywood in 1952 and appeared in many films, television programs, and local theater productions. Among his notable works are Shirley Temple’s Storybook (1958), Caesar and Cleopatra (1945), and Burning Arrows (1953). He died in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California, on July 2, 1979, at age 76.
