She appeared on the covers of Italian, German, French, British, and American magazines, especially Life magazine. They called her "Italian Hedy Lamarr". She was born in Genoa-Liguria to a well-off family, and after winning the Miss Liguria contest, when she was 14 years old, her mother encouraged her to enter the field of show business, by enrolling in drama school and taking ballet lessons. She participated in beauty contests, worked in fashion shows, and even made her first film with the comedian Toto. The producers wanted to introduce her to Hollywood as a successor to Sophia Loren and Gina Lollobrigida, but she failed, and the role went to Italian actress Claudia Cardinale. She died in Milan, Lombardy, Italy on October 17, 2009 from breast cancer, at the age of 69.
