“Titanic” Star Gloria Stewart Passes Away at 100

American actress Gloria Stewart who portrayed the elderly “Rose” in the film “Titanic” has passed away at 100.The Los Angeles Times has published a statement by Stewart’s daughter, Sylvia Thompson, confirming that her mother passed away following a battle with lung cancer.Stewart was nominated for an Oscar for her role as elderly “Rose” in the production “Titanic”. Younger “Rose” was portrayed by Kate Winslet. Besides her role in “Titanic”, Gloria was also known for her appearances in “The Invisible Man” and “Gold Diggers of 1935” among other titles.Worthy of note is that Gloria Stewart was the eldest actress ever to have been nominated for an Oscar – she was 87 at the time of the nomination.
