In a continuation of his efforts to support independent artists who are not tied to any organization, Khaled Abu Al Nagga has decided to produce a play titled “Bussy” (“Look”) that is attributed to a theater crew who go by that same name. Abu Al Nagga arrived at this decision after deciding to adopt the idea originated by the “Bussy” team – moreover, he had also seriously considered the possibility of writing a screenplay that adapts their idea into a film. The “Bussy” crew had been adamant in presenting their play despite much criticism and recently performed at a cafeteria in the Opera House. The play consists of a series of independent monologues in narrative form. The “Bussy” crew have been struggling to find a theater that is enthusiastic towards hosting their production and they were turned down by both Al Sawwy Cultural Wheel and the Creative Center. The play had received negative criticism from several journalists and critics following previous runs and this could partly be due to its containing stories about women who had taken off the veil in addition to narratives about incidences of sexual harassment and attempted rape. Preparations for another screening will commence following Khaled’s return from the Dubai’s Film Festival. Khaled’s film “Microphone” has an entry at that film festival, it has also won the award for Best Arab Film at the Cairo Cinema Festival.
