The annual ceremony for the handing out of the Awards of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, better known as the “Oscars”, have concluded with “The King’s Speech” receiving the award for best picture. The title’s director, Tom Hopper, also won the award for best directing while Colin Firth who played the leading role in the same picture has won the award for best actor. Meanwhile Natalie Portman won the award for best actress for her role in “Black Swan” whereas the award for best supporting actor went to Christian Bale for his performance in “The Fighter”. Melissa Leo won the award for best supporting actress for her role in that same title.“The Social Network” fared more disappointingly and received only three awards for categories which included best adapted screenplay and best film editing. Thereby the title did not earn the major prizes which it was nominated for.“Toy Story 3” won the award for best animated feature film which is considered logical especially seeing as it was nominated for the category of best picture for 2011.
