Egyptian actress Dalia al-Beheiry has withdrawn from her role in the television series “Ahlam Mashbouha” – the series was scheduled to air in the upcoming month of Ramadan.Despite the fact that Dalia had decreased her requested salary for the series the producing company did not reach a decision on whether or not it was going to present the series this year. Their ambivalence reportedly angered Dalia who subsequently withdrew from the project due to the fact that there is little time left before the beginning of the month of Ramadan and that the remaining time not enough for her to complete filming the series. The screenplay for “Ahlam Mashbouha” is credited to Fidaa al-Shandouly. The work is directed by Sa’ad Hendawy and produced by Mamdouh Shaheen and Nahed Farid Shawqy. Dalia was to portray the role of a woman from an impoverished background involved in a love affair with a man from an affluent family. They get married despite their different backgrounds and this is followed by a surprise which is to significantly alter events. The series is composed of 30 episodes and is to be filmed between Egypt and America.Director Sa’ad Hendawy explained that the workshops for “Ahlam Mashbouha” had been put on hold since the outbreak of the January Revolution. He also added that since Dalia al-Beheiry and Bassel Khayyat signed up for the work nothing new has come up in the workshops particularly as he was distracted recently by the revolution and its results. Hendawy further added that the workshops have been put suspended until such time that the producers and those involved in the work arrive at a clearer vision on how to proceed.
