Majida al-Roumy with Quincy Jones in the operetta “Bokra”

Quincy Jones chose superstar Majida al-Roumy to participate in the operetta “Bokra” to raise money and help finance educational arts and culture scholarships and projects for children in the Middle East and North Africa. Majida al-Roumy wrote the Arabic version of the song “A better You, a better Me”, it is not her first time, as she sang along with José Carreras at the Asian Olympics Opening Ceremony in Doha. Her third time was with the composer and singer Kaazhem al-Saaher, they drafted the Arabic musical template of operetta, the two of them were keen to express the basic message of the song “A better tomorrow).”The operetta “Bokra” was recorded in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, and will be released next September through a big festival in Morocco.The first words of the operetta in transliterated Arabic: “Jayee bokra nhaar jdeed, nefrah feeh we yefrah feena, nezra’ al-ard mwa’eed we hayee amal wein mamsheena, w’bokra tjamma’na-l ayyaam ‘al-kheir we ‘al-salaam, ya denyee sawa sawa, sawa menlawwen al-kawn be aghaneena, meen al‘aal ma feena, al-yawm n’ghayyer wajh al-kawn”; Which means in English: “Tomorrow is a new day, to rejoice, full of hope anywhere, tomorrow will bring us the better and will bring us peace, altogether altogether, together we will color the world with songs, who said we cannot, change the face of universe”.
