The Drama Writers Associations condemns the war against some Egyptian writers and artists.

After the recent accusation against some Egyptian writers and artists of denigration of religions, the Drama Writers Associations which holds with in a group of Egyptian and Arab drama writers have stated in its General Assembly that this is considered a danger against the freedom of speech and creativity. They also feel that it is a step back into the dark age of oppression which is considered one of the main reasons for the 25 Jan revolution.The law cases against Wahid Hamed, Lenin El Ramly, Adel Emam, Sherif Arafa and Mohamed Fadel of the previous mentioned accusation was considered unjustified and the association is demanding all national democratic forces to join in its stand against it. They have also delegated the writer Mahfouz Abd El Rahma-president of the association- to take all necessary legal actions to support those writers and artists to face all law cases and procedures. This statement was signed by Karam El Nagar, Yosr El Sewi, Fatheya El Assal, Basheer El Deek, Mohamed Abu Elela Al Salamouny, Mohamed Al Ghety, Mahfouz Abd El Rahman and Ayman Salamah.
