Best actress in the world Meryl Streep was unable to make it to the 65th BAFTA Awards Ceremony in London last night due to horrible weather conditions in New York. She was unable to fly from the U.S., where a storm named "Nemo," which has also been called a mammoth blizzard, is bringing heavy snowfall and general inconvenience to the northeastern seaboard.

The BAFTAs official Twitter account announced, "For those who are worrying Meryl Streep was unable to join us tonight because of the weather and her flight from the U.S. being cancelled."

Streep won best actress at the BAFTAs last year for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in "The Iron Lady."
