"300" star Gerard Butler has always been attracted to high-paced action flicks, for better or for worse. While filming his upcoming hostage thriller "Olympus Has Fallen," which he starred in and produced, the 43-year-old broke two bones in his neck.

Butler was promoting the film on Jay Leno last night, and told the host, "I was hit with a bullet casing in the eye, I ripped off a fingernail, banged up my knee.. I used to sing, well that's debatable, but I lost my high notes and I went to the doctor and he said I had a serrated voice box... that was about a year ago." When Butler went back, the doctor suggested he get an MRI for a growth in his neck. The MRI revealed Butler had a bone sticking out of his neck.

According to doctors, he had broken his hyoid and thyroid. Curious doctors wanted to know what he had been doing. "Well I made a movie called Olympus Has Fallen, where I pretty much got the f**king s**t kicked out of me." Morgan Freeman co-stars in the flick about a terrorist attack on the White House that results in the kidnapping of the President.

Butler also made headlines this week for talking his way out of a speeding ticket by telling the cop he was "saving the world." Humorously, he also told cops when pulled over in his native Scotland in 2009 he was rushing to a TV interview for his film " Law Abiding Citizen."
