Art Syndicates Union Demands the Transformation of the Fifty Committee into a Founding one

Art Syndicates union held a conference yesterday to display the points that have been discussed during the prior meeting about the new art articles to be presented to the constitution amendment committee, in order to write a constitution that represents the Egyptian people in general and ensures the protection of creativity and art in particular.

Members of the actors Syndicate attended the conference including Mohamed Abo Dawood, Sameh El Serity, Khalil Morsy and the chairman of the Cinematic Syndicate Mossad Fouda as well as the chairman of Musicians Syndicate Moustafa Kamel. Artists Fardous Abdel Hamid, Mohamed Fadl, Samira Abdel Aziz, Mahfouz Abdel Rahman and Fathia El-Assal also attended the conference while the absence of great poet Sayed Hegab was noted from the attendees. Khaled Yousef, the union's representative at the constitution amendment committee, reached the meeting at the last minute due to his preoccupation at the sessions of the committee.

Musician Hani Mehanna, head of the union of Artistic Syndicates, confirmed that the union with its representatives in the constitution amendment committee will continue to be the popular front in the committee using the union's workshops and events to ensure that the voice of artists reaches the committee.

Mehanna pointed that the discussions held between the union and its committees resulted in some recommendations to the amendment committee. The most important of those recommendations is to transform the committee into a founding one that establishes a new constitution that preserves freedoms, also articles that preserves the right of public performance and intellectual property of artists. Also highlighted is the diffusion of culture and awareness. Mehanna also stressed on the need to have a smooth communication between the union of art syndicates and the committee.
