After her mother dies, Salma decides to leave the house. She starts getting mysterious letters, so she returns to Shubra and reconnects with her childhood friends: Yousria the married woman, and Doha who's engaged to Tariq. The three of them reminisce about the past.

Selma decides to leave her mother’s home following her death due to the fact that she does not wish to live with her mother’s husband Rabie but he asks her to stay until she passes the age of forty. Selma then receives mysterious letters asking her not to forget the past, along with tapes of her favorite musician Mohamed Mounir. Selma returns to her old neighborhood, Shubra, where she revives her relationship with her old friends there: Yosria, who is married, and Duha, who is engaged to a colleague called Tarek who owns a Computer typing workshop. The three friends try together to find out who was sending the letters while Selma gets to know her neighbor, Hisham, who plans weddings for a living and their relationship progresses. Ibrahim gets rather annoyed by the way in which his wife’s engagement with her friends takes away from the attention paid towards him. This becomes especially so as Selma and her friends go forth to find her father who owns a photo shop called (The Best of Times). While searching for the one who sent the mysterious letters mentioned previously, Selma reviews her experiences with her former teacher Abd al Salam who was an admirer. She also ponders her life in the neighborhood she used to live in. Subsequently, Selma discovers that her Rabie was in love with her friend Duha and that he was the author of the mysterious letters. Rabie’s intention in sending the letters was to encourage Selma to stay at home with him after her mother, Nagwa, had passed away. Hisham and Selma get engaged and Yosria patches things up with her husband after overcoming the difficulties her friendship with Selma had caused with regards to their relationship. Duha also fixes matters with her love interest Tarek and the two set a date for their wedding.
