This title is a romantic drama based on Ben Sherwood’s best-selling novel “The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud”. The film was directed by Burr Steers and features the performances of Amanda Crew and Zac Efron among others. Charlie St. Cloud (Zac Efron) is a youth with a promising future as he has just received a sailing scholarship to Stanford. As he prepares to leave for college, Charlie promises his younger brother Sam that he will play baseball with him every day until he leaves. Later that same day, Charlie plans to attend a graduation party with his friends. Charlie’s mother forbids him from doing so however and makes him stay at home to babysit Sam while she picks up a shift at work. Charlie tries to sneak out but Sam catches him in the act and asks him to drive him to his friend’s house. Whilst driving, the two get into a horrible accident. Charlie survives the accident but Sam is killed. Later at the funeral Charlie meets Sam’s spirit and reaffirms his promise to practice baseball with him every day at sunset. Charlie intends to keep his promise but a few years later his love for a girl, Tess, begins to get in the way of his keeping his promise to Sam.
