Al-Walid ibn Yazid lives a life of luxury among wine, women, and amusement. His uncle, Caliph Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik, is thinking about removing al-Walid, his nephew, from his position as the crown prince. Mu'awiya, Hisham's son and the father of young Abd al-Rahman dies while chasing a fox.

Al-Walid ibn Yazid gloats over the death of Mu'awiya, his cousin. Caliph Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik decides to put down the Azariqa revolution in Morocco and sends an army there from the Levant. Ibrahim ibn Khatkan al-Mawla tries to harass Gulnar, the daughter of Abu al-Najm.

Ibn Katan, the governor of Andalusia, decides to bring in the Levantine army from Morocco to help him. Ibrahim ibn Khatkan joins the service of Imam Muhammad bin Ali, of whom and of his calling prophecies were raised. Ward, al-Walid's concubine, tries to win his heart.

Abu'l-Khattar al-Kalbi takes over Andalusia following its turbulent state. With time Ibrahim ibn Khatkan gains favor with Imam Muhammad bin Ali and his followers. When Caliph Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik dies, al-Walid ibn Yazid becomes the new caliph.

As Al-Walid ibn Yazid decides to show off his power as caliph, Hisham’s sons think about deposing him and installing Yazid ibn al-Walid in his place. Imam Ibrahim ibn Muhammad admires Ibrahim ibn Khatkan. Al-Walid decides to take the pledge of allegiance for his two sons to be the crown princes.

The followers of Yazid ibn al-Walid manage to seize Damascus and eliminate al-Walid. Imam Ibrahim assigns Ibrahim ibn Khatkan, who became known as Abu Muslim al-Khurasani, to take over the affairs of the da’wah in Khurasan, while the affairs of Andalusia become turbulent again.

The chief preacher of Khurasan Suleiman ibn Kathir is angry at choosing Abu Muslim al-Khurasani as the leader of the da'wah in Khurasan, while the latter calls on his men to do their practices to attract followers. As-Sumayl ibn Hatim chooses Yusuf al-Fihri to rule Andalusia through whom he'll be the actual ruler.

The da'wah prevails at the hands of Abu Muslim in Khurasan. Badr asks Abd al-Rahman ibn Mu'awiya to be his servant. The Qays tribe led by As-Sumayl defeats the Yaman tribe in Saqunda. Nasr ibn Sayyar tries to win over his enemies in Khurasan to stand up to Abu Muslim and his followers, known as 'Al Musawada'.

Abu Muslim al-Khurasani achieves his first victory by seizing Khurasan. Imam Ibrahim decides that the pledge of allegiance to him should only be in Kufa. Abd al-Rahman reprimands his servant Badr for interfering with his game. Abu Muslim kills Lahez ibn Qurayza for betraying him.

The Abbasids manage to take over Iraq. Imam Ibrahim is arrested after he put his brother Abu al-Abbas in his place. Abu Salama al-Khallal’s attempt to keep the pledge of allegiance away from him and his family fails. Abu al-Abbas’s uncle defeats the Umayyads in the Battle of the Zab.

Everyone is looking for the last caliph, Marwan ibn Muhammad, while the Abbasids pursue the remnants of the Umayyads, and Abu Muslim decides to take revenge on Suleiman and order his killing.

Salih bin Ali betrays those who trusted from the Umayyads. Abd al-Rahman ibn Mu'awiya miraculously escapes from the oppression of the Abbasids, while his brother Hisham falls into their clutches and is killed.

As Abd al-Rahman and his servant try to find a safe place away from the Abbasids who are chasing him, they end up in a caravanserai, whose owner decides to inform on them, but they escape, whereupon Abd al-Rahman tries to cure his eyes of ophthalmia.

Upon recovery, Abd al-Rahman decides to travel with his servant and loyal followers across the desert in order to reach Egypt, but they are captured by some bandits who steal their jewels.

Abd al-Rahman and his companions arrive safely in Egypt, where they stay temporarily before heading to Morocco. Badr, Abd al-Rahman's servant, falls in love with a con woman.

Abd al-Rahman decides to continue his long journey with his servant Badr. Abu Muslim al-Khurasani arrives in Morocco; meanwhile, the caliph's men feel that his goal clashes with their desire.

Abu Muslim al-Khurasani's wife is angry at his marriage to another woman of lower status. Abu Muslim gets embroiled in a feud with Abu Ja'far al-Mansur, whom he is late to pledge allegiance to as the new caliph. Abu Ja'far asks Abu Muslim to fight his dissident uncle

As Abu Muslim al-Khurasani defeats the caliph’s uncle, Abu Ja'far decides to appoint Abu Muslim as the ruler of Egypt and the Levant, but when he refuses, the caliph decides to kill him.

Hulal becomes a maidservant in the caliph's palace against her will, whereupon her mistress punishes her because she thinks she stole her jewelry. Abd al-Rahman ibn Mu'awiya arrives in Andalusia demanding the rule.

Hulal is absolved of the theft charges. Ibn Jawshan decides to mediate for Abd al-Rahman ibn Mu'awiya in his claim to the rule and his request to marry al-Fihri's daughter.

Abd al-Rahman decides to go out with his followers to fight al-Fihri after he refused to relinquish the rule, whereupon he defeats al-Fihri and establishes the Umayyad state in Andalusia.

After taking over Andalusia, the maidservant Hulal comes under the patronage of Abd al-Rahman. Al-Fihri refuses to accept the fait accompli and decides to fight Abd al-Rahman, without success. Hulal gives birth to Abd al-Rahman's son.

Abd al-Rahman arrests Abu Jawshan after he insulted him. When Abd al-Rahman learns that al-Fihri is attempting to march with an army against him, the former's army goes out to face the latter's; meanwhile, Abd al-Rahman refuses to release al-Fihri's children.

Abd al-Rahman, who is reunited with his brother, gets angry at the arrival of the Abbasids to Andalusia, so he decides to obstruct their path.

Abd al-Rahman complains about the insubordination of the rulers he appointed, he also complains about the misdeeds of Abu al-Sabah, whom he thinks about fighting, whereupon Abd al-Rahman changes and becomes crueler.

Abd al-Rahman's army becomes stronger, which causes his Castilian opponents to ask for a truce in exchange for money. The jurisprudent Shaqna marries the girl of his dreams.

Shaqna gains popularity among the people, as it is claimed that he has miracles. Abd al-Rahman decides to win over Shaqna, while the former tries to find a way to prepare his son for leadership.

As Abd al-Rahman enters into a confrontation with Shaqna, he orders the killing of his father. When Shaqna asks his friend Kinanah to divorce his wife in order for him to marry her, Kinanah decides to kill Shaqna.

Abd al-Rahman accuses his nephew of treason and sentences him to death. The commander of the army, who was formerly Abd al-Rahman's servant, feels that he hasn't given him what he's entitled to.

The feud escalates between Abd al-Rahman and Badr, whom he dismisses as the commander of the army. When Abd al-Rahman decides to kill his nephew al-Walid, he pleads with him not to.
