Set in a Bedouin locale, the events revolve around Sarbah, who wants to marry his cousin Najma, despite her engagement to Azzam, whom he does wrong and tries to get rid of. He drives a wedge between his uncle Sheikh Hamid and the tribe of Sheikh Sanhoud, only to be thwarted by fate.
