As a young child goes to the music hall for practice, he is rushed to the hospital after his nose starts bleeding. The doctor runs some tests that reveal that the boy's blood type does not match either of his parents'. His father asks for the tests to be repeated but they show the same result.

Yehia takes his son to run a DNA test. Shams is upset that her diabetic father keeps eating sweets. As Yehia is tormented by his doubt of his son's paternity, he eventually discovers that his son is not biologically his, for he is sterile.

Yehia confides in his friend. Hagar is distracted at work due to her problems with Yehia. Lilia has an affair with Selim. Yehia confronts Selim and demands to know if he is having an affair with his wife. After a fight, Selim leaves and gets in a car accident.

Shams accompanies Lilia to a party where she meets Isma'il, who catches feelings for Shams. With Selim in critical condition, Yehia asks the doctor to run a DNA test to determine if his brother Selim is Bayrum's father.

With Lilia's whispering in her ear, Shams claims to have a night shift in order to cover up for her new job with Lilia as a dancer in private parties. Lilia visits Selim after she learns about his accident. Lilia introduces Isma'il to Shams, who is wary of him.

When the DNA test proves that Selim is not Bayrum's father, Yehia tries to apologize to his brother, who rebuffs him. Linda undergoes IVF, which is met by ridicule from her husband Isma'il. Yehia tries to aid a patient, which attracts Linda's attention.

Yehia meets Linda and informs her that he is a doctor, but he was temporarily suspended. Shams continues working as a dancer to pay off her debts and afford her father's medication. Yehia grows suspicious of his young neighbor who frequently shows up at his house.

Isma'il tries to get close to Shams who rejects him. As Yehia and Hagar quarrel, she asks him to see a psychiatrist. Selim is released from the hospital. As Shams's father falls ill, Shams takes him to the hospital, where she is shocked to run into Isma'il.

Hagar's colleague informs Yehia that Hagar is having an affair with Ra'ouf. When Selim goes to visit Lilia, he sees Isma'il leaving the house, leading to the reveal that Isma'il owns Lilia's house. Yehia monitors his wife and Ra'ouf and follows them to a hotel.

Yehia discovers that his wife and Ra'ouf were going to a press conference. Isma'il tries to blackmail Shams into entering an affair with him in exchange for him providing adequate care for her sick father. Shams meets Yehia and comes clean to him about everything.

When Shams's father dies, Yehia does his best to console her. Lilia arrives to offer her condolences and regrets ever introducing Isma'il to Shams. As Selim and Lilia meet up at a restaurant, Selim is shocked to see Hagar with Ra'ouf at the same restaurant.

Selim and Hagar quarrel at the restaurant. Omar tries to convince Shams to quit her job as a dancer and to cut ties with Lilia. As Selim and Yehia reconcile, the former reveals that he saw Hagar with Ra'ouf. A furious Yehia beats Hagar and tries to strangle her.

Linda and Yehia confide in each other. Yehia leaves the house and moves in with his mother. Hagar visits Ra'ouf at the hospital. Shams tries to finish her father's book so that she could get it published. Linda learns that the IVF has failed.

Isma'il tries to console Linda, who donates the baby clothes she bought to a beggar. Hagar is unable to find Bayrum despite her neighbor's help. Hagar reports Bayrum missing.

Bayrum goes to his father's house and refuses to return to his mother. Linda asks for a divorce. Shams is notified that her father's book will be published. Yehia is arrested for attempted murder, but Ra'ouf wakes up from his coma and confirms that Yehia wasn't the driver who ran him over.

Yehia proposes to Linda. Shams tries to convince Omar that there is nothing between her and Isma'il. As Selim looks for Lilia, he discovers that she has left the house. Emad hangs himself after confessing to Yehia that he is the one who had an affair with Hagar and fathered Bayrum.
