When Dory's college mate Chantal goes missing, she makes it her mission to find her, while confronting her own dysfunctional relationship with her boyfriend, Drew. Dory believes she has seen Chantal at a Chinese restaurant, but she runs away.

When Dory's friends and boyfriend do not believe her on seeing Chantal the previous day, she starts to question whether she really saw her and decides to drop this Chantal insanity, only to find a sign referring to an underlined passage in the book Anna Karenina.

As Dory, Drew, Elliot, and Portia go to Chantal's vigil, Dory tells Chantal's mother that she saw her daughter, and her mother starts screaming and crying. When Dory sneaks into Chantal's room, she finds a sonogram in her jewelry box.

Hoping to get some answers, Dory and Drew organize a double date where they also have Chantal's ex-boyfriend, Gavin, and Portia. The dinner ends disastrously as Dory finds numerous emails for Chantal on Gavin's phone. Gavin reveals that Chantal has been cheating on him.

When Dory runs into the man she saw watching her, she finds out he is a private investigator hired by Chantal's family. Together, they decide to embark on a journey and probe deeper into Chantal's personal life.

When Dory, Portia, and Elliott attend the gathering of a mysterious cult at Bellow and Hare, they're shocked by the strange rituals. Dory returns home and finds that someone has ransacked her home and wrote over the wall: stop looking for Chantal.

As Dory makes a huge advancement in the case, Drew gets attracted to another woman. During the charity lunch that Elliott throws, his integrity is questioned, the thing that ends the lunch in disaster. Meanwhile, Portia causes a stir on the set of the show as she has an altercation with a star.

Accused of being a liar, Elliott enlists Drew's help to prove otherwise. Just as Dory decides to drop the case, she is reeled back in as she meets Gail and together they go undercover and come face to face with a prime suspect.

The crew finally discover a big lead and they have to pay off an unlikely source, hoping to find where Chantal is.

As the team heads to the place where they believe Chantal is hiding, a deadly threat knocks Dory down and things take a frightful turn.
