Zeinab lives with her husband and daughters in an ancient neighborhood. Her husband works at Dar Al-Maarif while her daughter Mariam is a teacher. Zeinab has a wealthy brother who seized her inheritance.

Zeinab quarrels with her husband for refusing to reconcile with her brother, Abdel Azim, and his sowing of hatred in their children. When Lamgad visits Mariam to gift her with a book, her father gives him a warm welcome. Zuhair's girlfriend gifts him with an expensive car.

Zeinab quarrels with her son, Zuahir, over the phone bill. Zuhair visits his uncle at the factory. When Mariam learns that her neighbor is slandering her, she meets up with her sweetheart and asks him to propose to her.

As Qais gets introduced to Abdel Azim, the two agree to work together. Zuhair informs his mother that his father's stance towards his uncle is justified.

When Qais proposes to Sondos, she accepts just to spite Zuhair. Al-Boghdady meets Zeinab's daughter and drives her home. Dalila grows jealous when she learns that Mariam is in a relationship with Lamgad.

As Qais meets up with Sondos, he grows to dislike her behavior, while she continues to reminisce about Zuhair. Rady clashes with the other tenants in the building because of Lamgad and Abu Bakr.

Zeinab and her daughter attend Sondos's engagement party, but her sister-in-law berates her for Rady's absence. Sondos quarrels with Qais over her engagement ring. Al-Boghdady attends the party and serves the guests himself.

Qais changes his mind about wedding Sondos. Qais and Rady quarrel over the publishing company and the books Rady wants to publish. Al-Boghdady and Abdel Azim agree to do a project together.

Qais agrees with Rady to publish the books and give the professors their salaries, he asks Rady for forgiveness for his previous actions. A crying Sondos rushes to her aunt's house at night.

Qais and Rady become close friends. Al-Boghdady asks Abdel Azim to partner up with him on a project with Sabiha, but Abdel Azim refuses. Mariam is devastated when Lamgad gets engaged to their neighbor.

Sondos asks her aunt to mediate with her father to let her wed Zuhair. Al-Boghdady tells Sabiha that Abdel Aziz used to be in love with his secretary. Rady advises his friend to divorce her criminal husband.

As Zuhair and Sondos get in a car accident, Rady adamantly refuses their marriage due to his hatred of her father. Abdel Azim refuses Sabiha's resignation. As the manuscripts are stolen from Qais's office, the police interrogate Rady and Al-Boghdady.

When Al-Boghdady is imprisoned for stealing the manuscripts, Rady visits him in prison. Rady's daughter is saddened by what happened to Al-Boghdady since she is in love with him. Sabiha asks Abdel Azim to drop out of the project and leave it to her.

When Al-Boghdady is released, he tries to help Rady by providing documents that condemn Abdel Azim. But Rady refuses and considers it to be blackmail.

Qais is arrested for trying to smuggle the manuscripts abroad. Zeinab and her girls go to stay with her brother. As Rady moves in with his parents, his daughter asks him to come back home, but he refuses.
