After a year passes on his wife's death, Wade finds himself facing trouble raising his two daughters, Grace and Natalie, while still not ready for the dating world.

When his relationship with Lizzie becomes boring and no longer attractive, Wade still struggles to break up with her. Later on, a dispute happens between Wade and Grace when she starts leaving home without his knowledge.

As Wade's friends feel that he has anger issues, they force him to attend a widows support group. Meanwhile, the former tries to comfort Grace who's been feeling neglected.

After learning that his friends are spying on his date profile, Wade changes his password, forcing Forest to create a fake account to keep track of him.

When Grace's drama teacher cast her in a school performance, Wade learns that the teacher treats her in a privileged way. Later on, Wade becomes proud of the former when she gives an excellent debut performance.

Forrest and Ben attempt to help Wade get a date while going to a bar.

Wade gets a panic attack when he thinks he may die, during his flight for a business meeting, and that will cause leaving his daughters alone. Meanwhile, Grace lies to Delia, so she can spend time with her friends.

Will and his daughters decide to invite friends and family over for Thanksgiving like Jill used to do.

In order to stop Delia from trying to set him up for a date with Anna, Wade agrees with his fellow widow, Caroline, to act as his girlfriend in Ben and Michelle's anniversary party.

As Wade's relationship with Anna is going great, they start going on date nights. The former's daughter's take advantage of their father's absence, and throw a huge party with boys against their father's rules.

Wade and Anna's relationship takes a surprising turn. Meanwhile, Grace, Natalie, and Delia learn how much they miss Jill, when they prepare for a yard sale to sell some of her things.

Wade receives an advise regarding his date life from his Widow's Support Group, that makes him uncomfortable.

Wade has to decide who will take custody of his daughters when he has to change his will. Meanwhile, after having four kids, Michelle asks Ben to get a vasectomy.

Forrest gets fired from his work after taking Wade's advice. Meantime, Michelle's sense of financial restraint is offended when Ben starts spending a lot on a project he received.

Natalie blames Wade for not being invited to a birthday party when the latter's date with her friend's mother goes wrong. Elsewhere, Ben fights with his daughter Sahai's basketball coach.

Wade discover that Denny, a newly divorced client who hires him for a job, is taking advantage of their relationship only to meet women. Meanwhile, Meg, a professional book-keeper, informs Wade that his finances are not in a good shape.

As Wade discovers his feelings for Caroline, Delia and Michelle help Grace in her bad experience at school.

As Grace goes to her first school dance, Wade and his group of friends realize how much has changed through the past year.
