During a party, Veronica Sawyer insults Heather Chandler, whereupon the latter decides to take revenge. As Veronica teams up with JD against Chandler, JD makes her ingest a pill that nearly kills her, after which they spread rumors that Heather Chandler has committed suicide.

Heather Chandler survives and tries to take advantage of what happened earlier. After Heather McNamara is caught in a compromising position, she feels rejected by everyone and makes a tough decision.

Following McNamara's death, Heather Chandler initiates a campaign to raise awareness and help students who're having suicidal thoughts. Ram asks Veronica out on a date, whereupon JD kills Ram, and it turns out that JD and Veronica are in love.

Chandler tries to win acclaim for her campaign, but things take a turn when Brianna Parker's suicide attempt fails. Betty Finn grows suspicious of Veronica's involvement in a murder that happened years ago.

Betty informs the police on JD, who later receives threatening messages and believes they're from Chandler. Veronica confesses to killing Lucy McCord and chastises JD for mistrusting her.

Veronica fakes her suicide in order to test JD's loyalty. The school's news show causes Heather Duke to become famous; meanwhile, things turn sour with Heather Chandler.

As Veronica and Duke see the teacher who caused McNamara to consider suicide, they kill him and make it look as if he killed himself. Heather Chandler decides to make amends for the wrongdoings of the past.

During an active shooter training, Heather Chandler, Heather Duke, and Veronica are forced to stay together, and their friendship grows strong again. As Chandler and Duke learn that it was Veronica who killed Lucy McCord, they decide to keep it under wraps.

Duke learns that JD is behind Kurt Kelly's death, which leads to a high-speed chase that ends with Duke's death. Meanwhile, Chandler cares about nothing but becoming the prom queen.

JD plots to detonate the school during the prom, whereupon everyone dies except Chandler. Meanwhile, Veronica and JD are both banned from going to heaven as a result of their misdeeds.
