He is a cinematographer who filmed and produced more than 150 films. He was a member of various festivals, including the jury for documentary and short films at the Narrative Film Festival in 2001, and the jury of the Arab Narrative Film at Cairo International Film Festival in 2007. He was also President of the Cinema Authority from 2012 until the end of October 2014. He is known for Mr Doorman (1987) and Sunset and Sunrise (1970).
