An Egyptian director, editor, and producer who was born on February 5, 1919 in the village of Amrous, Menoufia Governorate. He obtained his baccalaureate degree in 1937 and joined the Faculty of Law, but he left it to join cinema and become an actor. He was an editor in several...Read more films, before he made his directorial debut with House No. 13 (1952). He was the first to turn Naguib Mahfouz's literature into movies. Kamal is best known for The Thief and the Dogs (1962), Life or Death (1954), and Miramar (1969). He was married to the editor Amira Salem, who along with his brother Saeed El Sheikh, co-edited most of his films. He passed away on January 2, 2004, at age 85.
