Born Sayyed Zayyaan ‘Ateyya, he started his career in cinema and theatre at the end of the 1960s and was mainly active during the 1980s. On the silver screen, although he was always given second roles, yet one cannot forget his roles in: “Ayn ‘aqly i.e. Where is my brain”, “Oreedo hallan i.e. I want a solution” and “Al-motassawwel i.e. The begger”. One of his unforgettable roles is (al-Mestekaawy) the spotter in “Al-beih al-bawwaab i.e. Mr. Doorkeeper”. On stage, Zayyaan took the lead role in the 1980s and 1990s in; “Al-fahlawy i.e. The whippersnapper", Al-parachot i.e. The parachute”, “Al-‘askary al-akhdar i.e. The green soldier”, “Al-kash-shaash i.e. The sweeper” and others. With the start of the new millennium, a brain stroke kept Sayyed Zayyaan away from the light for the last decade.
