In 1930, he won the world championship in heavy weight lifting in Munich, and in 1931 he won the world championship in Luxembourg. He was awarded the Nile Medal in the 1940s, and the Sports Medal from President Gamal Abdel Nasser in 1965. He appeared in the movie Salah El-Din El-Ayoubi (1941).
