Muhammad Zaky Moharram Mahmoud Rostom was born in March 1903 to an aristocratic family of distinguished position. His grandfather Mahmoud Pasha Rostom was a prominent army officer and his father Moharram Pasha Rostom was a member of the National party and a close friend of Moustafa Kaamel its founder. Zaky was an athlete since a young age. He started acting as amateur while studying for the baccalaureate when he met the talented actor Abdul Waareth Assar. George Abyad admired him and added him to his troupe in 1924. In 1925, he joined the Ramses Troupe with Ahmad Allaam where he was given lead roles. He also worked with a big number of troupes including Azeez Eid’s. Among his most important stage plays are: Confession Chair, The Devil and The Orphan. On the silver screen his roles in Aicha, Quay 5, The Tough, The Sin are important landmarks of the Egyptian film industry. Zaky is one of the most important actors of the Egyptian Cinema. He belongs to the school of integration. One strongly believes him as a cruel man in River of Love as well as a kind hearted father in Me and My Daughters or as a tight fisted father in Summer Holiday where he plays a light comedy role.
