An Egyptian poet, author, and journalist. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at Fouad I University in 1943. He worked as a lawyer after graduating, then decided to leave the legal profession to work in the press, until he published a poem entitled “A Letter from an Egyptian Father to the President Truman" in 1951, followed by his first novel The Land in 1954, which was adapted into the 1970 film of the same name. He has many works in cinema and theater as well as television, among his most prominent works Nasser Salah al-Din and Backstreets. He passed away in 1987.
