Bassel Khayat comes from Damascus and particulary from Baghdad street which provides a varied setting as the street is host to both traditional elements and more modern ones at the same time. Moreover its inhabitants come from different background. Since his youth, Bassel has been able to make his way in a unique manner.

A Syrian actor, born in Damascus in 1977. He began acting at the age of eight. When he applied for the admission exam at the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts, he was rejected the first time, only to be accepted the following year. His actual debut was in 2000 through the series The Secrets of the City. Among the titles in which he participated are Spotlight, and On the Edge of the Abyss. He also participated in Egyptian series, such as Friendly Fire, and The First Lady. One of his most prominent films is The Gate of the Sun, which was shown at the Cannes Film Festival in 2004. He received a number of accolades for his performances.
