The late artist Saleem Al-Basri was born in Baghdad in 1926. In 1942, he joined the first private acting troupe. He entered the Faculty of Arts and Sciences in 1950 and graduated in 1954 from the Department of Arabic Language. Among his cinematic movies is The Cart and the Horse. As for his pioneering contributions in the field of television, they are: The Eagle and the Eyes of the City, and Obsessions of Silence. In the last years of his life, the artist retired and passed away at his home on May 8, 1997 in Baghdad.
