An Egyptian interior designer, artist and filmmaker. He was born in 1931. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cairo, and then traveled on a scholarship to study decor in Vienna before returning to resume his academic career in Egypt. He participated in dozens of exhibitions inside and outside Egypt, and his works were acquired by many museums, institutions in Egypt, Germany and Austria. He also published some books in the field of plastic art. He managed the stage of the Egyptian Opera House and designed the decor of dozens of major performances, such as “Aida’s Opera” in 1984 at the El Gomhouria Theater. He designed two commemorative silver coins, one on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the College of Fine Arts in Cairo, and the other on the occasion of the passage of the subway under the Nile River. He also designed 17 commemorative stamps and murals of the second line of the subway, in addition to more than 40 book covers. His most prominent work, for which he received the first prize from the state, remains the monument to the unknown soldier in Cairo, which commemorates the martyrs of the War of Attrition and the War of the Sixth of October 1973. Among his artworks are the directors of the movie Ramy the Protester in 2008. He died on May 14, 2019.
