Born Zainab Shekeeb (April 1909 – September 1978), to a father who was the Abdeen (a district in Cairo) police superintendent and her maternal uncle, Esmaeel Pasha Sedky, was the Egyptian Prime Minister during King Farouk’s reign. Zouzou first appeared on the stage playing a small role in “Al-doctor i.e. The doctor”. At the age of 16, she joined Al-Reehaany troupe and participated in many plays like “Hokm Karakowsh i.e. Karakowsh Rule”, “Kesmety i.e. My fate” and “Al-donya ala kaff afreet i.e. Life on a tip”. Later, Shekeeb joined Fouaad al-Mohandess troupe with whom she started the rehearsals of the famous play “Ennaha hakkan ‘aela mohtarama i.e. It is really a respectable family”, yet she died without playing the role on stage that was actually played by the great “Ameena Rezk”. Besides playing the unmarried, the mother in law and the villain in cinema, Zouzou Shekeeb produced several films starting 1945, along with her sister Mimi and her sister’s spouse Seraag Mounir.
