Lebanese-Syrian singer and actress born in Saida to a Syrian father and Lebanese mother. She spent her childhood in Damascus then moved to Beirut. She was discovered by composer Mohamed El Nafaji who married her, and she became an official singer in the Lebanese Radio in 1946. She then came to Egypt and worked with famous composers such as Mohamed El Mougy in songs like "Ana Albi Elaik Mayyal". She worked in film for a while but then focused on her musical career. She married composer Mohamed Sultan and often collaborated with him until he passed away. She is still one of the most renowned singers in the region.
