Star Farouk Salama is one of the famous accordion players in Egypt and the Middle East. He started off in Mohamed Ali street with the local bands and playing in small weddings then in 1963 moved on to accompany the legendary musician Mohamed Abdel Wahab. He played in Salah Araan’s band as well as Ahmed Fouad Hassan. Later he joined Um Kalthoom’s band. Salama comes from a musical family, his dad is a trumpet player . His father and daughter are also musicians. Farouk Salama succeeded in adding the quarter tone to the accordion which enabled the instrument to play some eastern notes. He wrote music for many singers like legendary Um Kalthoom , Ahmed Adaweya , Mayada El henawi, Aziza Galal and Magda El Roomi. He is also on the hunt for new vocals through his program “Egyptian Tunes”
