A French director, writer, and producer, born on February 28, 1895 in Aubagne, France. He was head of the jury in 1995 at Cannes Festival and a member the Cannes jury in 1957 and 1966. He is known for Angele, Le schpountz, The Well-Digger's Daughter, and La prière aux étoiles.
