He graduated from the Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University, and worked in singing groups in Bab Sidra in Alexandria before moving to Cairo. Galal Moawad presented him at City Lights concerts in 1960. He was married to the sister of singer Amani Jadou. He died with his family in a tragic accident of gas asphyxiation in his home in Orabi Street in Giza in 1989.
