A Lebanese writer, director, and broadcaster of Palestinian origin, born in 1922 in Jaffa. He was known as the director and artistic supervisor for a number of the Rahbani brothers' radio and theatrical works starting in 1959. He was awarded the Lebanese Gold Medal of Merit, in...Read more 1957. He also received the Jerusalem Medal for Culture, Literature, and Arts from the State of Palestine in 1990. With the Rahbani brothers, he founded the Lebanese folk band in 1962. He directed and produced television programs and films with the Rahbani brothers, including The Seller of Ring and Safar Barlik. He worked for 17 years as a general supervisor for music at the Near East Station for Arab Radio. He worked as a technical advisor to the Jordan Television Corporation from 1973 until 1982. He contributed to the establishment of Jordanian, Libyan, and Tunisian radio stations. In 1973, he established the Television Production Corporation. He died after a struggle with an illness on February 4, 1999, at the age of 77.
