• Samir Muhammad Said Farid was born in Cairo on the first of December 1943, and graduated from the Criticism Department of the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts in 1965. He began...Read more publishing his articles as a student since 1962. He worked as a film critic for Al-Gomhouria newspaper from 1964 to 2003, then moved to work in the independent newspaper Al-Masry Al-Youm since 2004. Samir Farid was a member of the Film Production Committee of the Ministry of Culture in 1970 and the Cinema Committee of the Supreme Council of Culture in 1980. He was behind the establishment of the National Film Festival in 1971, the Film Critics Union in 1972, and the National Film Festival in 1991. He worked as a consultant for the International Cinema Company from 1983 to 1985, and the Library of Alexandria since its opening in 2001 until 2016. In addition to teaching at the Faculty of Media at Cairo University in 1980. Samir Farid founded and was the editor-in-chief of the weekly newspaper "Cinema and Arts", which was issued by Dar Al-Tahrir from January to September 1977.
