An American director, producer and writer, born in 1943. He got a BA in English from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also studied philosophy, history, and architecture. Then he moved to London to study cinema at the London Film School. He began his career by directing...Read more commercials and documentary films. He made his first short film in 1971, while his first feature film was Thief (1981), which he also wrote. It was nominated for the Palme d'Or award at the Cannes Film Festival. Mann has had a long career, during which he made many acclaimed movies and series, for which he received many awards, including the Emmy Award twice and the BAFTA Award once, and was nominated for four Academy Awards.
