He studied at the English School in Suez, graduated from the High Cinema Institute in 1967, and from the Faculty of Commerce, Cairo University in 1986. He also received a postgraduate...Read more diploma in journalism from Cairo University in 1970, and a postgraduate diploma from the University of Southern California. He taught cinematic arts in film institutes and media colleges in Egypt, and founded the Arab Visual Company in 1967. He directed a number of documentary films, including: Visual Encyclopedia of the Pharaonic Civilization, in addition to two feature films: The Execution of a High School Student (1980), and Spirit of Survival (1990).
