A Syrian writer, born in 1942 in Latakia, where he obtained a secondary school certificate in 1958. He was dispatched to the Soviet Union by the Ministry of Education to specialize in literature and languages. He graduated in 1964 with a Master of Arts degree, then a Ph.D. in Film Writing. He worked in teaching and journalism and was the editor-in-chief of the Forsan magazine in Damascus and a cultural advisor in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among other positions. He translated literary and intellectual works from Russian as well as works in the field of theater. The National Film Organization in Syria produced the film Home Sweet Home based on his novel.
