An American director and producer, born on October 17, 1960, in Madison, Wisconsin. He began his career directing the TV adaptation of the musical Annie in 1999. In 2002, he directed the musical, Chicago, which earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Director. He also directed, Memoirs of a Geisha (2005), which won three Oscars and a Golden Globe Award. He's also known for Nine (2009), Into the Woods (2014) and Mary Poppins Returns (2019)
