A Lebanese film director, writer, and actor, born in Beirut in 1959. He studied dentistry at the Lebanese University, then went on to study theater in Paris. He worked in French and European theater, and collaborated with major directors in France and Europe. Chahine returned to Lebanon in 2002, and worked with director Ghassan Salhab on the film The Last Man (2006). He's known for directing short films. In 2008, he wrote, directed, and starred in his first short film, The North Road. His acting credits include The Valley (2014), Persepolis (2007), and The Insult (2017).
