An American film director, born on February 22, 1944 in Long Island, New York. He won an Academy Award for Best Director for The Silence of the Lambs (1991), which won the big five Oscars. He is known for Rachel Getting Married (2008), Philadelphia (1993) and The Manchurian Candidate (2004).
