An Ancient Greek poet and playwright born in 496 BC in Colonus, Athens, Greece to a wealthy family and held several political positions in his lifetime such as Secretary of Treasury and one of the ten Generals of Athens. His works include the plays Antigone, Oedipus Rex, and Electra. He died in 406 BC, at 90 years old.
