She was born in Santa Ana, California in 1958 to a father of German origins. She studied for only one year at Golden Community College West as a shorthand writer, after which she left college and decided to embark on acting. She won the title of Miss Orange County in 1978 and then participated in the Miss California contest, and although she did not win, she got her roles in some television commercials and films. Her acting debut was in the TV series Delta House (1979). She is known for Batman Returns (1992), Murder on the Orient Express (2017), Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (2019) and Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018).
