Zhang Ziyi is a Chinese actress that was born on the 9th of February, 1979. Zhang Ziyi was born and raised in the Chinese capital Beijing. At the age of 11 she joined the Beijing Dance Academy. Despite her discontent with the atmosphere at the academy, she nonetheless won the national youth dance championship (which paved the way to her appearing in television commercials in Hong Kong). Zhang joined the Central Academy of Drama (considered China’s premier acting college) at the age of 17. Soon afterwards, Zhang began appearing in cinema and television productions. Zhang is perhaps best known for her roles in “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” and “Memoirs of a Geisha”. |
