Chinese-born Singaporean actor and martial artist Li Lianjie, known as Jet Li, was born on April 26, 1963 in Beijing. He won his first national championship in Beijing after three years of intensive training, as he joined the most famous martial arts school in China at the age of eight, after which he decided to retire at the age of seventeen. He made his debut in the movie Shaolin Temple (1982), then the movie Deadly Weapon Evil 4 (1998), and the movie Romeo Must Die (2000) gained him wide fame. Jet Li made his directorial debut with the 1986 movie Born to Defense, then he decided to go into the field of production, which was a successful experience.
